Medical Malpractice Doctor Lookup

Call Our Florida Medical Malpractice Lawyers for Help – (954) 914-7116

Are you curious about your doctor’s qualifications or whether or not your medical provider has had a history of medical malpractice? Do you suspect they might be deviating from accepted standards of medical care? You can actually conduct some quick research using databases compiled by the Florida Department of Health (FDH) and the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (FOIR).

Two useful tools you can use to investigate and spot doctors disciplined for medical malpractice are:

Medical License and Profile Service

  • Website:
  • Purpose: Using this database provided by the FDH, you can research the licenses of your medical providers, as well as access general profiles of physicians including education, privileges and board certification. The system is advantageous as you do not need to be hyper-specific with the information you put into the database. Even if you think you only know their last name or the mailing address of their practice, you will still probably be able to find them. Keep in mind that you should be looking for any negative indicators on your doctor’s record, not necessarily just a lack of negative indicators.

Medical Malpractice Claims History

  • Website:
  • Purpose: Using this database provided by the FOIR, in conjunction with the Florida Department of Financial Services, you can search for any medical malpractice claim filed in the state and ultimately paid to the plaintiff. It can be tricky to use the database to its fullest, though, as you will want to be both specific and generalized in your search. For example, even if you know the exact hospital name you want to research, it is possible that the hospital group changed its business name after losing a medical malpractice lawsuit to “cover its tracks”. Individual physicians often do the same thing by moving to another county. For this search, you should keep in mind that it only shows concluded cases that did not include some sort of strict confidentiality agreement.

If these two databases do not provide any answers but you still suspect there is something “off” about your medical provider, do not forget to simply search for them using an internet search engine like Google or Bing. The best approach for this general search usage may be to type something like “<your attorney’s name> + medical malpractice” and search under the News tab. If there are any news stories from reliable newsgroups that come up in the search, be sure to give them a read, as it might be exactly what you were looking for.

Have you been injured by a negligent medical provider and you have identified them in one of the aforementioned databases? You deserve compensation, and they must be held accountable to help make certain such a mistake never happens again.
